A plastics extruder and packaging products manufacturer in Trenton, New Jersey, had noise issues preventing normal conversation in their warehouse area. Noise levels in the plant caused by a material feed pump located against concrete walls were generating 100 to 105 dBA noise levels. SysTech’s reputation with the client solving dust related issues prompted them to request our engineering help with the noise issue. After review of several alternatives, they settled on a noise control curtain enclosure around the pump 18 feet long by 9 feet high by 6 feet in width. Easy access for maintenance was a key factor in their decision process.

Materials were supplied by Noise Suppression Technologies, Inc. The enclosure was comprised of acoustical noise panels, manufactured of quilted fiberglass on two sides with non-reinforced mass loaded vinyl barrier in the center, attached with velcro to a 1.5 inch square galvanized tube frame. An access door, a viewing window, and a baffled inlet and outlet for heat removal was included with the package. The acoustical enclosure resulted in a reduction in general plant noise levels of 22 dBA!
