Industrial fan or blower outlet silencers are part of a discharge fan system and are designed to address noise from the fan outlet. Transitions, dampers and screens may be included as part of the complete discharge system. Silencer may be mounted on the fan or blower outlet or on an exhaust air duct or along a wall.  Low-pressure loss through the silencer is the design goal and important to keep the fan horsepower requirement as low as possible with final silencer selection determined on airflow and sound levels required.

Fan outlet silencers are manufactured in many configurations and materials to meet attenuation requirements. Collected data along with space envelope and required noise levels need to be firmly established before the silencer is successfully designed.

Fan Outlet Silencer Construction Options

Construction options are limitless and would include:

  • Metal gauges to 3/8” steel plate
  • Carbon steel, stainless steels, or FRP
  • Flanges
  • Supports
  • Screens
  • Paints & coatings
  • Removable baffles
  • Horizontal or Vertical Configurations

Discharge Fan System Silencer Accessories

Typical accessories would include:

  • Weather hoods
  • Filter housings
  • Transitions & evases
  • Airflow probes
  • Access doors

Discharge Fan System
An Integral Part of an Industrial Ventilation System

Integrated industrial ventilation systems where fan or blower noise is a contributor to overall plant noise, will incorporate a discharge fan system on the fan or blower outlet.
