Field Analysis and Testing Requested
Our focus is on industrial ventilation and as such we are often called upon to perform on-site reviews, testing and analysis of issues in industrial facilities. Building pressure is a frequent request and is important for ventilators and makeup air equipment to function properly. Industrial ventilation testing is unlike HVAC airflow analysis that many people are familiar with in that industrial facilities move large volumes of process air that require heat, excessive noise and potentially hazardous materials contained or removed.
Ventilation System Analysis & Surveys – This is a ventilation component inventory where we collect performance data on all supply and exhaust equipment, review equipment, specifications and performance curves along with building drawings to determine original designs and expected performance. This often requires fan testing or projection of performance, as data is not available for old equipment where serial numbers and manufacturer tags are nonexistent. When doing these surveys, it is to be expected that over time, fans and blowers wear out, replaced or new fans are added until building pressure becomes negative, processes change, manufacturing changes, air handlers are added, are obsoleted and belts break, all possible scenarios, until plant ventilation becomes almost non-existent. When fans don’t perform, dust and fume build up, and an unhealthy situation develops.
Fan Performance – Information on fans and blowers is lost over time and based upon the installed inlet and outlet conditions, field measurements need to be conducted to understand actual airflow. Additionally, motor information and wheel speed data are collected to determine expected performance. When fans don’t perform as designed, ventilation systems fail.
Noise Surveys – Determining the sources of excessive noise levels in a facility and how to attenuate them is a frequent request. Taking readings at key points within the facility allows us to isolate a specific piece of equipment or process and to formulate a plan to correct the problem. More comprehensive evaluations are available depending upon the application.
Dust and Fume Collector Operation – Reviewing a dust collector for airflow performance, mechanical functionality and structural integrity will solidify your dust and fume collection design. There are solutions to your dust collector headaches of poor air quality and dust accumulation on horizontal surfaces. This is an area where we see clients tolerate poor system performance but are frequently able to see quick improvements after simple corrective action.
Combustible Dust – Due to the ever-changing code requirements surrounding this area we can offer 3rd party evaluations and based upon those we are happy to comply with the requirements set forth. As we do with our new equipment designs we can also offer retrofit equipment to meet NFPA requirements given required information is available to meet Standards for a proper DHA (Dust Hazard Analysis).
We have the experience and the people to keep your ventilator or ventilation system at peak efficiency. Call us.
SysTech routinely conducts basic inspections and analyses to keep ventilation systems functioning properly. When more detailed information needs to be collected for detailed analysis or regulatory compliance, SysTech maintains associations with a network of consultants specializing in industry requirements. These are long-term relationships with firms who are specialists in Acoustical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, and DHA/PHA Analyses. They have always displayed professionalism and competence way above the norm. If you find a need, please give us a call and we’ll work with you to a solution or connect you to one of our trusted affiliates.
